Note
To author a Microsoft Silverlight Learning Snack, you must first sign in to SnackBox with your Windows Live ID and create a user name.
After you finish adding content by using the Learning Content Development System (LCDS) tool, you are ready to publish your Snack.
Step 1: Create a Snack
On the LCDS toolbar, click
Create
. A dialog box appears.
Select
Learning Snack
, and then click
Create
. The Snack Converter tool opens.
Step 2: Open a Course
In the Snack Converter tool, click
New
, and then click
New Snack
from LCDS.
A Browse for Folder
dialog box appears, showing the available LCDS courses on your computer.
Select a subfolder within the Courses folder (for example, sample_snack), and then click
OK
. The subfolder name should match the name of the course that you want to convert.
Note
When you select the subfolder, more folders may be displayed.
Step 3: Add Topics
In the
Snack Title
field, enter the name of your Snack.
To add your first topic, click
Browse
in the
Topic 1
box, and select a topic. A dialog box appears. The topics are numbered, beginning with 0001. Topics that begin with the number 0004 and higher are Snack-friendly topics. You can identify the topic by the title that follows the number.
Select a topic, and then click
Open
. The
Topic 1
box shows the topic that you have selected. Notice that the
Title
field has been defined by the topic you selected. If you want a different title, simply edit the text.
Continue to select topics for your Snack by following this process. Your Snack can contain between one and six topics.
Step 4: Create your Snack
When you are ready to build your Snack, click
Create Build
at the bottom of the screen.
In the dialog box, select the folder where you would like the Snack to be created, or click
Make New Folder
to create a new folder. When you have selected (or created) a folder, click
OK
. A dialog box appears when your Snack is complete.
Step 5: Preview your Snack
Navigate to and open the folder you specified. Click the Default.html file in the folder list in the right pane to view your completed Snack.
Step 6: Create a thumbnail
Create a 313x230 pixel thumbnail image for your Snack.
Save the image as a JPEG file, and name it
thumb
.
Save the thumb.jpg file in the root folder of your Snack.
Step 7: Create a ZIP Folder
Navigate to the folder that contains the Snack that you just created.
Right-click the folder containing the Snack, select
Send To
, and then select
